THE FORUM

FEATURING jonathan fisher, md

Jan 30, 2023 | 6:15 PM | IN-PERSON EVENT | tickets: $15

You’re invited to the January 30, 2024 gathering of The Forum!

How might we live more healthy lives? How might we rekindle a community spirit of wellbeing that serves the whole of who we are?

Join us for "Just One Heart: A Cardiologist’s Guide to Healing, Health, and Happiness" with Dr. Jonathan Fisher, a cardiologist, mindfulness teacher, and organizational well-being leader. In this upcoming talk, Dr. Fisher will call attention to the pervasive issues that are impacting modern society: the increasing prevalence of conditions like obesity, diabetes, and heart attacks and the emotional challenges of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. These issues, he argues, not only signify a decline in our physical and emotional well-being but also reflect a profound longing and dissatisfaction in our lives.

Dr. Fisher advocates for a return to solutions rooted in collective wisdom, supported by positive psychology and the emerging field of psychocardiology. He blends the humanities with modern scientific findings, revisiting the Eastern understanding of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and heart. This holistic view once acknowledged in the West but gradually forgotten, is now being reaffirmed by contemporary science.

Dr. Fisher calls for dismantling the silos in healthcare and wellness, urging for collaborative approaches that integrate the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health. Central to his discourse is the idea that our physical health, emotional well-being, and collective happiness are deeply intertwined.

Don't miss out on this pivotal conversation on the transformation needed in healthcare and the journey of our own hearts.

Jonathan Fisher, M.D., FACC, is a cardiologist, certified mindfulness teacher, and well-being and resiliency leader at Novant Health. He is also the founder of Mind Heart Now LLC, delivering presentations and workshops on mindfulness, stress mastery, total well-being, and heart-centered leadership for teams and organizations. He co-founded the Ending Clinician Burnout Global Community; and organized the world’s first global summit dedicated to ending clinician burnout, with over a thousand participants from 43 countries. Dr. Fisher completed his medical training at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and Harvard University.

Connect. Consider. Ignite. The program runs from 6:15 PM to 8:00 PM including time for conversation, connections, and Q&A.

The Forum has a three-part structure:

• First third: Participants connect and build relationships in small break-out groups prompted by a question;

• Middle third: Participants consider a presentation that ends with the speaker posing a community-facing question;

• Final third: Participants discuss the question, igniting new ideas and interactions.
